Tessuti e pelli: personalizzazione e nuove visioni nell’interior design

Fabrics and leathers: customization and new visions in interior design

In contemporary design, fabrics and leathers are no longer mere coverings, but authentic design tools capable of defining the identity, atmosphere, and character of spaces. Living materials that interact with architecture, light, and volumes, transforming every piece of furniture into a distinctive element.

This philosophy guides every Faber project, where personalization becomes an integral part of the creative process.

A DESK BETWEEN RIGOUR AND ART DECO

An example of this is this desk (here we see only a detail due to the usual confidentiality obligations we have towards our clients) created for a contemporary executive environment: an essential space, with a few carefully selected elements, designed to express authority and elegance through unique details. The furniture recalls Italian rationalism reinterpreted with refined Art Deco touches: clean lines, metallic inserts, and spectacular transparent legs that reveal a weave of wrought iron and steel details.

In this project, the leather was not chosen from a catalog, but entirely custom-developed to interact with the identity of the furniture itself. The client desired an extremely natural surface, characterized by an irregular but controlled grain and a deep, sophisticated dark grey tone, capable of enhancing the rigorous geometries of the desk. To achieve this result, a dedicated leather was developed, with specific processes designed to ensure chromatic depth, material balance, and aesthetic continuity.

LEATHER AS AN ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENT

The technical challenge was particularly complex: the leather had to maintain softness and adaptability in the curved parts, while ensuring structure and precision in the tauter surfaces. A balance achieved through accurate tests of elasticity, thickness, and aesthetic yield. The result is a unique piece, where leather becomes an architectural and design element, contributing to defining the character of the entire environment.

Today, the application possibilities of leathers in interior design are almost endless: not only seating and upholstered furniture, but also desks, tables, boiseries, handles, custom accessories and details capable of conferring exclusivity and personality to contemporary spaces.

Alongside leathers, velvets, jacquards and decorative fabrics further expand creative possibilities, in a continuous dialogue between noble materials, craftsmanship and innovation.

It is precisely in material research and customization that Faber fully expresses its vision: to create unique furnishings, designed to interpret the taste, style and identity of each client through a sartorial approach to the project.
